However, there are a few centres that will remain open on the holiday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toronto Eaton Centre, 220 Yonge St., from 12 to 7 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toronto Premium Outlets, 13850 Steeles Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pacific Mall, 4300 Steeles Ave. E, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vaughan Mills, 1 Bass Pro Mills Dr., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tourist attractions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for something to do New Year\u2019s Day, select tourist attractions will be open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CN Tower, Ripley\u2019s Aquarium, Casa Loma and both the Toronto and High Park zoos will be open on Jan. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Riverdale Farm will also be open for the day, as well as the Allan Gardens and Centennial Park conservatories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada\u2019s Wonderland \u2018Winterfest\u2019 will run from 3 to 9 p.m. New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Royal Ontario Museum will be operational on Jan. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Art Gallery of Ontario will also be open New Year\u2019s Day and is offering a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ago.ca\/bottomless-new-years-day\">bottomless mimosas brunch deal for adults, and a bottomless pancakes deal for kids<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cineplex theatres will also be open with varying hours and showtimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grocery stores<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most major grocery chains will be closed on New Year\u2019s Day. However, there are a few places that will remain open on the holiday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loblaws, 60 Carlton St., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metro, 444 Younge St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FreshCo, 800 Steeles Ave W. at Bathurst Street, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whole Foods,\u00a087 Avenue Rd. (Yorkville), from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Walmart\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.walmart.ca\/en\/stores-near-me\">will be open<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Shopper\u2019s Drug Mart locations\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shoppersdrugmart.ca\/store-locator\">will be open with special hours<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Liquor stores<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All LCBO and The Beer Store locations will be closed on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select Wine Rack stores in Toronto&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winerack.com\/stores\">will be open with special hours<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On Jan. 1, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttc.ca\/riding-the-ttc\/Updates\/2024-Holiday-Service-Hours\">TTC<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotransit.com\/en\/partners-and-promotions\/free-go-and-up-express-service-on-new-years-eve\">GO Transit, and UP Express<\/a>&nbsp;will be free from midnight until 8 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After 8 a.m. on New Year\u2019s Day, the TTC will operate on a Sunday schedule, while GO will run on a Saturday schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For all three transit services, they say customers paying by PRESTO card, or debit or credit should still tap, but won\u2019t be charged a fare during the free window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Garbage and recycling pickup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/services-payments\/recycling-organics-garbage\/holiday-impacts\/\">no garbage, green bin or recycling collection<\/a>&nbsp;in Toronto on Wed. Jan. 1. All collection for the remainder of the week will be pushed back one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All Transfer Stations and Drop-Off Depots will also be closed New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Government services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most municipal offices will be closed on New Year\u2019s Day, but emergency services won\u2019t be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All banks are closed on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passport office and Service Canada offices are closed on statutory holidays, including New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Post offices will also be closed on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toronto Public Library branches will close early on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. and remain closed on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Borrowed items can still be taken back and placed in return slots and online services, including eBooks and research databases, will still be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>With files from CTVNews.ca and Aarjavee Raaj<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From our family to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy 2025!
